CEU Defence and Culture Classroom is born

CEU San Pablo University and the Ministry of Defence have signed an agreement to create the CEU Defence and Culture Classroom, with the aim of training students interested in specializing in the communication and dissemination of information related to Defence. Through the Classroom students will attend different types of sessions lead by experts and will then put into practice the knowledge acquired.

Furhtermore this agreement aims to raise awareness of the Ministry of Defence and, specifically, the Culture of Defence in the university environment, in order to promote a dialogue that facilities mutual understanding and the possibilities of action between the parties for this purpose. The Defence and Culture Classroom will serve as a place of innovation, adapted to the challenges proposed by the Ministry to the students of the Faculty of Humanities and Communication Sciences of CEU USP.

The rector of the University, Rosa Visiedo, and the admiral Juan Franciso Martínez Núñez, from the General Secretary of Defense Policy (SEGENPOL), were in charge of inaugurating the Classroom. After that, the colonel José Luis Clavo Albero, director of the Coordination and Studies Division (DICOES), gave a talk to the students who will be a part of this space. Also in attendance were Brigadier General Jose Antonio Fuentes de la Orden, Secretary General of the Army General Staff; Colonel Rufino Calleja Pinilla, head of the Center for Defence Culture Studies of the Army; and the Colonel Carlos Martin Fullana, analyst of the Center for Defence Culture Studies of the Army.

The Aula was lead by the colonel Juan Billón Laa, Head of the Defence Culture Area, and María Sánchez Martínez, vice dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Communication Sciences of the University.

Support for employability

With a clear dedication to employability, CEU continues in its commitment to the professional future of its students through different projects to get companies closer to the university. This new space is part of the Aulas CEU – Empresa project, where students receive complementary training while taking their first steps in the labour market . In this way, ‘Culture and Defence’ Classroom joins the more than 30 CEU-Company Classrooms inaugurated in the five faculties and in the Polytechnic School of the CEU USP with the help of IBM, NTT Data, KPMG, EY, Adecco, You First, ¡Hola!, LÒreal, Merck, 24 Genetics, Multiópticas, Ashurst, Diusframi y Porcelanosa, among others.
