The CEU Summer University is back with 19 courses spanning the fields of health, social and legal sciences, economics, humanities, engineering, and architecture. This set of modules will be held from June 17 to July 18, aimed at students seeking specific supplementary training, and delivered in various formats (in-person, online, and hybrid) by professors and academics from the University and other higher education institutions, organisations, and companies.
A noteworthy addition this year is the emphasis on Artificial Intelligence in several of the offered courses. These range from learning about different Generative Artificial Intelligencetools, using prompts, and understanding their interface, to their relation with data analysis and algorithmic techniques, or their integration in voice signal processing to perform tasks such as speech recognition, speaker identification, and voice synthesis. Additionally, a course on rehabilitation robotics will be held, featuring a practical workshop focused on constructing a robotic hand prosthesis powered by muscle activity. Students will learn to work with 3D printing, design and build an electronic board, and finally, program a control system.
Among the various courses aimed at health professionals, topics will include approaches to individuals with autism spectrum disorder, techniques for increasing happiness through positive psychology and mindfulness, and the history of the human body. Moreover, a cosmetic workshop on skin evaluation and hydration will be offered, where students will assess their own skin and based on the results, prepare a moisturising cream tailored to their skin needs.
There are also courses designed to explore the history and art of Medieval Madrid, to understand the context of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, or to comprehend the geopolitical and security challenges facing Europe and ways forward following the European elections, as well as to learn how to communicate to highlight corporate strategy in the field of sustainability. English courses and a workshop to delve into the world of interactive infographics are also being offered.
