CEU-Merk Classroom: space of innovation and employability

CEU San Pablo University and MERCK have signed an addendum in their Collaboration Agreement for the creation of the CEU-MERCK Classroom. This is a space of cooperation and innovation aimed at the students of Farmacy and Biotechnology Degrees and the Master of Health Biotechnological Companies, in which they will be receiving complementary training while taking their first steps in the labour market.

The CEU-Merck Classroom will serve as a place of innovation and employability resolving the challenges proposed by the multinational to promote changes that will have a positive impact on society and the welfare of people. It will also foster a synergy that facilities mutual understanding and the possibilities of action between the two institutions for this purpose.

The president of Merck in Spain, Manuel Zafra, the rector of the university, Rosa Visiedo; and the manager of the university institution, Carmen García de Elías, were in charge of organizing this new agreement with a clear commitment to the employability of the professionals of the future.

The CEU-Merck Classroom starts to be part of the Aula CEU – Empresa project, and joins the more than 30 CEU-Company Classrooms inaugurated in the five faculties and in the Polytechnic School of the CEU USP with the help of IBM, NTT Data, KPMG, EY, Adecco, You First, ¡Hola!, LÒreal, Merck, 24 Genetics, Multiópticas, Ashurst, Diusframi y Porcelanosa, among others.

Almost a decade of collaboration

The tie between CEU San Pablo University and Merck began in 2015, with the creation of the Merck Chair, led by the Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Mª Pilar Ramos and associated to the University Master’s in Management of Health Biotechnology Companies led by ASEBIO. It has the objective of facilitating the building of bridges between patients and companies that improves the quality of life of people and the sustainability of the planet. This MBE (Master’s in Bioscience Enterprise) is the only one in the Spanish University market and is designed for science graduates who already have an adequate training in science but who wish to follow a career in management or entrepreneurship.
