‘Cepsa-CEU Green Digital’ Chair is born

Cepsa and the University have created the Chair ‘Cepsa-CEU Green Digital’, which aims to promote research and development of digitization projects aimed at the energy transition, promoting knowledge and research in these matters in young talent.

The Chair will focus on training young talent in Artificial Intelligence and other topics such as the internet of things (IoT) or cloud platforms, and on researching the use of these and other disruptive and innovative technologies for decarbonization. During the signing  of the agreement for the creation of this Chair, its director, Ricardo Palomo, said: “Technology is revealed as the ideal instrument and the great hope to achieve the objectives of decarbonization and, in this sense, Cepsa’s commitment to promote technology transfer and dissemination of advances through educational institutions is also a wise move towards young university talent”.

In the words of David Villaseca, Chief Digital Officer of Cepsa: “We are committed to collaborating with the innovation ecosystem, which includes academic institutions such as the Ceu San Pablo University, to develop new initiatives that drives the energy transition. For this transformation to be sustainable, scalable and real, we must involve and train young talent, the future of our society”.

This brings to 11 the number of chairs promoted by the University’s Vice-Rectorate for Research, Transfer and Scientific Dissemination.

Extensive Program of Activities

As a part of this commitment to research, training, knowledge flow and innovation, the company promoted chairs with different universities. The ‘Ceps-CEU Green Digital’ Chair will implement from this month different activities aimed at promoting the development of digital skills and innovation through educational spaces and programs, courses, scholarships, forums and another initiatives such as  hackathons, demo days or the Green Digital Prize, which will be awarded to be the best Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree Final Project on digitalization for the energy transition, In addition, educational opportunities and transformative experiences for students will be offered, such as the Spain Head South Program, an initiative with a unique educational approach, which provides young people with a transformative experience in the field and contributes to the development of leaders committed to social and environmental values.

This initiative is part of Cepsa’s intention to establish alliances to reinforce its 2030 Positive Motion energy transition strategy with a Green Digital approach. In this area, Cepsa is promoting the democratization of data to put it at the service of people and extract its maximum value, thanks to technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI). It is also committed  to the construction of digital solutions that sustainable from the design phase (Green In Digital) that allow measuring and moving towards carbon neutrality (Green By Digital), in addition to promoting the decarbonization of its employees and customers, with an improved user experience.
