The tutoring programme is part of the support model of the CEU San Pablo University. The figure of the tutor is exercised by the professors of the Faculties, mainly paying special attention to first year students. With a special sensitivity in their relationship with the students, it is essential for the tutor to be aware of the academic demands that the students will have to face during their time at university.
Their function is to guide the student and to promote their academic performance. From the moment a student enters the university, each student has a teacher-tutor assigned to them, with the aim of guiding them in their studies and monitoring their academic progress.
The tutor will have the support of the University Guidance Service (SOU), which will complement its work with individual attention to students if necessary.
The University considers tutorial action to be a fundamental part of the student support model, especially with new students who, at the start of their university studies, can count on this point of reference for their process of adaptation to their new environment.
Tutors coordinate various essential aspects for the student, including: the integration of the new student, academic counselling and personal guidance.
Among the actions to be carried out by a tutor, we can highlight:
- advising on the university's rules and regulations regarding continuance
- help in obtaining a better academic performance
- establishing contact with the university bodies to which the student should turn, in the event of any situation or problem that goes beyond the competences of the academic tutor.
