Relevant characteristics of the research group (description of the group's activity):

Economic competition and regulation research group: Spain, European Union and Global. It is a interdisciplinar and multidisciplinar group with a long history, both each of their researchers individually and in their collective activity.

This group has its nerve centre in the Competition and Regulation Policy Centre of the CEU San Pablo Royal Institute for European Studies, who also has Jean Monnet Chair 'Single Market & Competition Law in the Digital and Ecological Transition Era' (Ref. 620517-EPP-1-2020-1-ES-EPPJMO-CHAIR), run by Professor Jerónimo Maillo González-Orús.

Among its interests, we shall highlight the topics related to:

  • The use of Competition Policy as a tool in society and also in Politics
  • The articulation of Competition in domestic, European and International current and future norms
  • The process of liberalization, privatization and regulation of economic sectors such as telecommunications, energy, transportation, financial services and postal services
  • The regulation of the European Single Market, specially in the new digital and ecological transition era. The Market Unity Guarantee

The group has experts from different fields of Law (European and International, Civil, Trade, Administrative, Procedure and Criminal) as well as Economists specialised in Macro and microeconomy from USP-CEU and other Spanish and European universities, as well as associated researchers from public institutions and the private sector.

Additionally, the group collaborates with the dissemination of the Competitive culture and a better economic regulation together with the CNMC (the Spanish National Markets and Competition Commission) and the EU Directorate-General for Competition (DG COMP) through teaching activities and seminars opened to the public, as well as dissemination activities within 'Madrid+d' Science Weet and other specific events.
