Relevant characteristics of the research group (description of the group's activity):
DoxaCom is a multidisciplinary research group, led by five researchers who have been working together on vulnerable audiences since 2002 under the direction of Professor Núñez Ladevéze. The team is completed by five PhD lecturers and researchers in training who are doing their theses linked to projects. All its members share a concern for the effects of digital culture and seek to develop research oriented towards innovation and transfer, which improves the lives of citizens and the quality of democracies.
DoxaCom has an extensive research track record. The most experienced members have participated continuously and jointly in five projects of the National R&D&I Plan. The first ones focused on analysing the television consumption of children and adolescents in Spain and the contexts of reception and family mediation. With the expansion of the information society, the group extended its study to the opportunities and risks of the Internet in three areas: the uses of networks, vulnerability and the digital divide; the information disorders caused by the proliferation of fake news; and the characteristics of digital political communication.
DoxaCom members have also participated in competitive projects funded by public administrations and national and international private entities. One of the most relevant is the Programme of Activities on Digital Vulnerability (PROVULDIG). Other notable projects are the collaboration of some members in the Gender equality and youth: opportunities and risks of digitalisation, carried out by EIGE or the Inclucom report, promoted by Dircom, Cermi, Fundación ONCE and DOWN España with the aim of promoting the professional development of people with disabilities in the communication sector.
