CEU San Pablo University will host in the first
quarter of 2022 a new postdoctoral researcher with a Marie Sklodowska-Curie
Individual Fellowship (MSCA-IF) within the framework of the Horizon 2020
European Research and Innovation program. Doctor Mateusz Dasko will join the
project "Design, synthesis and biological evaluation of
PROteolysis-TArgeting Chimeric (PROTAC) molecules as anticancer agents, PROTACs
- Project ID: 101031883", whose purpose is to develop drugs with antitumor
activity through protein degradation. The research will be led by the Professor
of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Beatriz de Pascual-Teresa and the assistant Irene Ortín
Remón.
The interdisciplinary project will cover different
stages of drug development such as design, synthesis and biological evaluation.
In addition, Mateusz will spend a period
doing research at the Università degli Studi di Torino (UniTO) in collaboration
with Dr. Giulia Caron for the study of physicochemical properties in the search for
the candidate drug and will also spend time researching at the company CsFlowChem in collaboration
with the Dr. Jaime Blanco, for the synthesis scaling process. At the same time Mateusz
will be involved in educational and informative activities developed at CEU San
Pablo University.
Mateusz Dasko new MSCA-IF at USP-CEU
Mateusz Dasko has a degree in Biotechnological
Engineering from Gdansk University of Technology (Poland), where he continued
his Master's studies in Biotechnological Sciences and later obtained his Doctorate with the work entitled “Design,
synthesis and biological evaluation of new inhibitors of steroid sulphatase
(STS) based on sulphamate analogs containing CF bonds”. Highlighting the awards
received in both Master and Doctorate studies. As a researcher he has collaborated with companies such
as Polpharma S.A. and Pfizer and he has completed a pre doctoral stay in the
group of Prof. Ana Mª Ramos and Beatriz de Pascual-Teresa. He is currently an
assistant professor at the Faculty of Chemistry at the Gdansk University of
Technology in Poland.
Dr. Mateusz Dasko is the second researcher to join the Competitive Group PROLIGAR with an MSCA-IF, after
Dr. Loganathan Rangasamy (2018-2020). This Group is the first at CEU San Pablo
University to achieve two projects in the H2020 Framework Program.
