The Film & TV Development Programme, taught by professors from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA Extension), is aimed at students from the School of Humanities and Communication Sciences who want to embark on a career as content developers and creative producers of film and television in the world capital of the audiovisual entertainment sector.

Characteristics of the Programme

In this programme, the student discovers the content development and production cycle of film and television, learns how to tell compelling stories and develop a compelling audiovisual project.

At the end of the programme and after graduating from USPCEU, the student receives an official certificate ("gold seal"): "Film and TV Development Certificate" issued by UCLA Extension.

UCLA Extension

UCLA Extension is located within the UCLA campus. With more than 84,000 students enrolled each year, UCLA Extension is one of the largest university-based continuing education programmes in the world. It is designed so that society as a whole can benefit from the academic synergies, research and resources offered by UCLA University. Students will enjoy international learning at the heart of the UCLA campus.

Structure

During the first three years of their degree at CEU, students in the programme will take subjects taught by UCLA professors in Madrid. Here is a sample of some of the subjects, by way of example:

  • Story Development workshop: crafting your original story
  • Pre-Production and Production for Film and Television
  • Digital Marketing or Brand Management

After completing the 3rd year of the CEU degree, during the summer she will begin her American adventure, which will last for 7 months. Specifically, in the summer of the 3rd year, the student will take the following subjects in Los Angeles:

  • Post-production for Film and Television
  • The Business of Entertainment
  • Understanding Genre: How to develop a Hollywood classic
  • One elective subject

During the 1st semester of the 4th year at CEU, the student will take the following courses in Los Angeles:

  • Story Analysis for Firm and Television
  • Introduction to Feature Film Development
  • Marketing and Distributing Independent Films across all platforms
  • One elective subject

Methodology

Students on the programme benefit from two different and complementary educational methods that, combined, provide them with a global vision and a capacity for adaptation that will be highly valued when it comes to entering the job market. The American teaching system stands out for its pragmatism and application to real contexts, in the development of which the student interacts with the teacher in a very active way.

To participate in the CEU-UCLA LOS ANGELES EXTENSION Programme, it is essential to be enrolled as a student at CEU San Pablo University for the duration of the programme in one of the following degrees:

  • Double Bachelor's degree in Audiovisual Communication + Advertising and Public Relations (Bilingual)
  • Double Bachelor's degree in Digital Communication + Audiovisual Communication (Bilingual)
  • Double Bachelor's degree in Journalism + Advertising and Public Relations (Bilingual)
  • Double Bachelor's degree in Journalism + International Relations and European Union (Bilingual)
